STATOIL ART AWARD 2009
The Statoil art award is intended to encourage and recognise young and emerging artists and to give them opportunities to continue their work. A jury comprising five experts on contemporary art convene every other year to identify the next talented person who deserves to win the Statoil art award. They consider a number of young and talented visual artists and draw up a list of 25 candidates. A short list of four nominees is then selected and invited to show their work in our Nomination exhibition. The winner is announced during the exhibition. Worth NOK 500,000 (about USD 80,000/EUR 60,000) the prize ranks as the biggest of its kind in Norway and is awarded in recognition of a special talent.
Nominees for 2009 are Ida Ekblad, Marius Engh, Anawana Haloba and Lars Laumann.
